Shaw Industries was recently recognized by Floor Covering Weekly at the magazine’s annual GreenStep awards for sustainable accomplishments around product, promotion and processes. Shaw received the top winner in both the Promotion and International categories of the magazine's prestigious recognition and was an honoree in the Practice/Process category.

Shaw was recognized for the following:
International Award (Winner)
The International Award is given to a company with a manufacturing facility outside of the U.S. that is exemplary in bringing sustainable practices to its area of the world.
Shaw’s work to complete lifecycle analysis and customer facing environmental product declarations (EPD) for the products manufactured at Shaw Plant CN in Nantong, China, received this recognition. With a promise to be a positive force in the global effort to mitigate climate change, the completion of this work provides customers throughout the Asia and Australia/New Zealand markets the environmental transparency documentation needed to understand how product choices impact their total projects’ climate impact.
Promotion/Communication Award (Winner)
The Promotion / Communication Award honors any educational, marketing or promotional activity that promotes environmental sustainability and/or accurately conveys knowledge and information about green initiatives.
Shaw was recognized in this category for the COREtec® brand partnership with Homes for Our Troops® (HFOT), a nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans. All homes built since 2019 have Shaw’s COREtec product which provides a durable, waterproof solution that is compatible with mobility aids and service animals. Shaw’s associate resource group, ShawVET, helped facilitate the partnership with HFOT which has also provided opportunities for associates to volunteer for landscaping projects and welcome home veterans at the key ceremonies.
Practice/Process Award (Honoree)
The Practice / Process Award recognizes any practice or process improvement that reduces negative environmental impact or promotes sustainability.
Shaw’s new recycling partnership with Encina Development Group will allow Shaw to recycle an additional 2 million pounds of carpet manufacturing waste annually. With a 2030 goal to achieve net zero enterprise operations, this effort will further reduce Shaw’s greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint while contributing to its long-standing sustainability commitment.
